The Treasure Valley irrigation companies are beginning to advise their planned start dates. Most will begin to release water into their systems on April 3, 2017. However, it will take as many as two weeks to fill all of the canals and ditches and irrigation company personnel will begin to start up pumps and test systems as soon as possible. It is interesting to note that the Nampa Meridian Irrigation District alone controls more than 500 miles of canals and ditches in the Valley.
Homeowner associations that have their own pumping systems will start operations and test systems as soon as the water is delivered to each. Residents can expect to have pressurized irrigation water available around April 17. Some associations that pump from their own wells may start up earlier depending on weather.
