The Sentry Management Division Manager, Kristan Ward along with Community Manager Lindsey Farmer visited the capital in opposition to bill SB 1429.
The bill, if passed would prohibit homeowners associations from amending their governing documents to regulate rentals in their communities. This would allow corporations to buy up properties to rent out.
Sentry, along with Kristan is working with the Tenessee Community Associations Institute (CAI) Legislative Action Committee to bring awareness to this bill before it passes.
Kristan explains the magnitutde of the bill, “SB 1429 is unconstitutional as it violates the private contract between homeowners and their association. If passed, this bill will not allow homeowners the opportunity to vote on a rental policy that fits the needs of their neighborhood. Collectively, homeowners should have the right to decide for themselves.”
