Sentry Management Des Moines participated in the Epilepsy Foundation’s local Walk to End Epilepsy at the Jordan Creek Town Center. The event, held annually, helps to raise funds and awareness for epilepsy research. This year, the Sentry team walked in honor of Maiya, the daughter of Sentry Des Moines community manager, Tabitha Ochoa, as Maiya lives with epilepsy. During the event, the Sentry team walked the 1-mile course, stopping to visit informational booths for epilepsy research, and wore coordinated shirts for Maiya.
The Epilepsy Foundation works to raise awareness and funds for the research and development of a cure. Currently, 1 in 26 individuals will be diagnosed with epilepsy in their lifetime, totaling over 3.4 million individuals nationwide.
This event is part of Sentry’s commitment to giving back to its communities through the company-wide charitable program, Giving Smiles. Giving Smiles identifies deserving residents impacted by tragic events such as fires, floods, or other personal hardships and provides funding and assistance through company-matched and employee donations during the holidays and year-round. It also is the umbrella under which Sentry offices and employees take part in give-back or charity events across the nation.
